THE Cebu Football Club (CFC) Gentle Giants concluded the Philippines Football League (PFL) Season 2024-25 in fourth place following a 1-1 draw against Davao Aguilas UMAK on Saturday night, April 12, 2025, at the Dynamic HERB-Borromeo Sports Complex.
CFC finished the season with 31 points, recording 9 wins, 4 draws, and 5 losses.
Kaya FC Iloilo once again topped the league with 44 points on a 14-2-2 win-draw-loss record, while Manila Digger finished second with 43 points on a 14-1-3 card.
One Taguig FC rounded out the Top 3 with 33 points, equivalent to a 10-3-5 card.
Adding a feather to CFC’s cap is its No. 1 goalkeeper, Florencio “Jun” Badelic Jr., who was honored with the prestigious Golden Globe award.
CFC draws Davao
Davao found the back of the net first in the 25th minute, courtesy of Gabriel Costa Goncalves. CFC scored the equalizer via Guytho Marcus Mijland in the 83rd minute.
Named Man of the Match was Roberto “Papu” Corsame, who dedicated the honor to his family.
Corsame said the team is ecstatic to have finished in the Top 4 despite a very challenging season and excited to compete in the Finals Series.
Finals Series
Securing a Top 4 spot qualifies the Gentle Giants for the Finals Series, an entirely different tournament from the regular season. This competition will determine the team that will represent the Philippines in the 2025-26 ASEAN Club Championship, also known as the Shopee Cup.
The Finals Series will commence after the Holy Week, with CFC facing No. 1 seed Kaya and 2nd seed Manila Digger going up against third-seeded One Taguig. The winners of these matches will then vie for the ticket to the Shopee Cup. / PR
